A healthy 25-year-old woman is referred for recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTI). She has had 5 documented and culture-proven urinary tract infections in the last year. Her symptoms have always been mild, and she denies a history of pyelonephritis or hospitalizations. She currently is symptomatic (burning with urination, vague lower abdominal pain). Urinalysis is consistent with an active UTI. Review of prior cultures reveals pan-sensitive E. coli
