A study has found that the new CKD-EPI equation for calculating glomerular filtration rate is a better predictor of risk for kidney disease and death compared with the older Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) study equation. John Schieszer reports in today’s Medical Minute that the CKD-EPI equation took nearly a decade to develop and may be an important advance.
