During the 2012 Presidential Campaign, Republican candidate Mitt Romney vowed that if he were elected president, he would repeal or stop implementation of the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”).

Now that President Obama has won a second term, the Affordable Care Act remains the law of the land and will be fully in place in 2014. Phasing in of federal subsidies for brand-name prescriptions in the Medicare Part D coverage gap begins next year, as does an increase in Medicaid payments for primary care services to 100% of the Medicare payment rate for 2013 and 2014.
