Lack of adherence to therapeutic regimens is a major reason why patients fail to control certain diseases and conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, and certain psychiatric disorders. There are a number of reasons patients do not adhere to treatment protocols. Sometimes, the reasons are unintentional, but other times, patients deliberately choose not to adhere to their treatments.
