Hormone suppression plus radiotherapy significantly decreases recurrence and mortality in patients with locally advanced prostate cancer, researchers reported in Cancer (2009; published online ahead of print).

In a meta-analysis of data from seven trials involving 4,387 patients, hormone treatment added to radiotherapy decreased the risk of biochemical failure, cancer-specific mortality, and all-cause mortality by 24%, 24%, and 14%, respectively, compared with radiotherapy alone.
