Computed tomography (CT) scansprior to radical cystectomy (RC) forinvasive bladder cancer may be usefulin predicting patients’ risk of death.
Sebastian Christoph Schmid, MD, ofthe Technische Universität München inMunich, and colleagues reviewed preoperativeCT images of 206 patientswith invasive bladder cancer undergoingRC. Patients had a median followupof 40 months. Results showed thatincreased bladder wall thickness andlymph node size of 6–10 mm and largerthan 10 mm correlated significantlywith an increased risk of all-cause andcancer-specific mortality, the researchersreported online ahead of print inthe World Journal of Urology.
