Once-daily tadalafil 2.5 and 5 mg is safe and effective in men with diabetes and erectile dysfunction (ED), investigators reported in Diabetes Medicine (2008;25:138-146).
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, Dimitrios Hatzichristou, MD, of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and his collaborators studied 298 diabetic men with ED.
The men were assigned to receive once daily treatment with 2.5 mg or 5 mg or tadalafil, or placebo. Men receiving either dose of tadalafil had clinically and statistically significant improvements in their score on the Erectile Function domain of the International Index of Erectile Function.
They also had significant improvements in mean success rates for vaginal penetration, completion of intercourse, and overall treatment satisfaction.
