The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has launching a new program to help prevent infections in patients receiving cancer chemotherapy.
The “Preventing Infections in Cancer Patients” program features an interactive website called “3 Steps Toward Preventing Infections During Cancer Treatment.” Chemotherapy patients can take a short questionnaire designed to assess their risk and educate them about staying healthy.
The program also includes the Basic Infection Control and Prevention Plan for Outpatient Oncology Settings, a comprehensive guide to determine if an outpatient oncology facility meets minimal patient safety expectations.
