ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—Smith & Nephew has launched its No-Sting Skin Prep spray, a liquid film-forming dressing for periwounds that dries in less than 30 seconds.
It leaves a clear waterproof, breathable, and conformable barrier that allows for visual assessment of the periwound area. The spray is alcohol free, reducing the likelihood of stinging when applied to vulnerable skin, according to the company.
The spray, which is hypo-allergenic and latex-free, has up to a four-day wear time, reducing the need for frequent applications. It is suitable for patients of any age whose skin is at risk. It also protects intact and damaged skin from irritation due to digestive secretions, exudate, adhesives, frictional forces, and skin trauma during tape and adhesive removal, the company said.
