Glycemic control is independently and inversely associated with erectile dysfunction in men with type 2 diabetes, researchers reported in the International Journal of Impotence Research (2009; published online ahead of print).
In a study of 100 men with type 2 diabetes, investigators found that the degree of potency increased as hemoglobin A1c levels decreased.
The researchers measured sexual function using the abridged form of the International Index of Erectile Function.
