A decrease in systolic BP independently predicts development of nosocomial acute kidney injury (AKI), investigators found. The risk for AKI increases approximately 1% with each 1 mm Hg decrease in systolic BP.
The findings are based on a study comparing two groups of hospitalized patients: one with AKI and the other without.
