Smiths Medical MD, Inc., of St. Paul, Minn., has received clearance for new software features on its CozMore insulin technology system.
The expanded capabilities include a food database that assists users in tracking their carbohydrate intake; a feature that allows missed insulin to be taken before and after the pump is disconnected for up to two hours; a QuickStart menu for programming the pump’s basic operations; and a Hypo Manager feature that recommends the amount of carbohydrates a user should eat to correct a low blood-sugar test result.

“These advancements came from suggestions made by our customers and the health-care professionals who prescribe the CozMore system,” said Srini Seshadri, group managing director of Smiths Medical. The new software and enhancements will initially be sold in the United States and China.
