Abbott Pharmaceuticals’ FreeStyle Navigator Continuous Glucose Monitoring System, which provides minute-by-minute information about the rate and direction of changes in blood sugar levels, has been approved for diabetics.
Discretely and continuously measuring glucose levels through a sensor in the back of the upper arm or abdomen, the FreeStyle Navigator system can prompt adjustments that can result in tighter glucose ranges.

The FreeStyle Navigator system is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2008 by prescription only.
