The FDA issued an alert regarding domestic sales of counterfeit blood glucose test strips for use with various models of LifeScan Inc.’s One Touch brand blood glucose monitors.
The lots of the counterfeit strips are One Touch Basic/Profile lots 272894A, 2619932, 2606340, and 2615211, and One Touch Ultra lots 2691191 and 2691261. The counterfeit strips could give false blood glucose values, which might result in diabetic patients taking either too much or too little insulin, leading to serious injury or death.
