Physical activity reduces the risk of BPH and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), according to a review of studies including a total of 43,083 men.

 

The investigators stratified physical activity into light, moderate, and heavy categories, as compared with a sedentary category. Compared with the sedentary group, those in the light, moderate, and heavy groups were at 30%, 26%, and 26% decreased risk of BPH or LUTS, respectively, the authors reported in European Urology (2008; published online ahead of print).
