Physical activity reduces the risk of BPH and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), according to a review of studies that included a total of 43,083 men.
The investigators stratified physical activity levels into light, moderate, and heavy categories and compared these with a sedentary category. Overall, compared with the sedentary group, those in the light, moderate, and heavy groups were 30%, 26%, and 26% decreased risk of BPH or LUTS, respectively, the researchers reported in European Urology (2008; published online ahead of print).
