Glaucoma:
Indications for: XELPROS
Open-angle glaucoma. Ocular hypertension.
Adult Dosage:
1 drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the PM.
Children Dosage:
Not established.
XELPROS Warnings/Precautions:
Do not exceed recommended dose (may reduce efficacy). Ocular inflammation; avoid if active. Aphakia. Pseudophakia with torn posterior lens capsule. Risk of macular edema. Herpetic keratitis; avoid if active. Contact lenses (remove; may reinsert lenses 15mins after administration). Pregnancy. Nursing mothers.
XELPROS Classification:
Prostaglandin analogue.
XELPROS Interactions:
Allow at least 5mins between application of thimerosal-containing oph drops or other topical oph agents. Concomitant additional prostaglandins or prostaglandin analogues: not recommended.
Adverse Reactions:
Eye pain/stinging, ocular hyperemia, conjunctival hyperemia, eye discharge, growth of eyelashes, eyelash thickening, ocular itching, visual acuity reduced, dry eye, erythema of eyelid, foreign body sensation in eyes, eyelid edema; increased ocular pigmentation (eg, iris, eyelid, eyelashes; may be permanent), intraocular inflammation, macular edema (including cystoid macular edema).
