Indications for: Phenazopyridine HCl

Urinary tract discomfort.

Adult Dosage:

200mg 3 times a day after meals; max 2 day therapy when used with antibacterials.

Children Dosage:

Not recommended.

Phenazopyridine HCl Contraindications:

Renal insufficiency. Severe liver disease. Severe hepatitis. Pyelonephritis of pregnancy.

Phenazopyridine HCl Warnings/Precautions:

Yellow discoloration of skin or sclera may indicate poor renal excretion. Stains contact lenses. GI disturbances. G6PD deficiency. Discolors urine/feces and fabric (red-orange). Elderly. Pregnancy (Cat.B). Nursing mothers.

Phenazopyridine HCl Classification:

Urinary tract analgesic.

Phenazopyridine HCl Interactions:

Interferes with colorimetric, photometric, or fluorometric urine tests.

Adverse Reactions:

Headache, rash, pruritus, discoloration, GI upset, methemoglobinemia, hemolytic anemia, renal and hepatic toxicity.
