Thromboembolic disorders:
Indications for: PERSANTINE
Adjunct to oral anticoagulants after cardiac valve replacement to prevent thromboembolism.
Adult Dosage:
75mg–100mg four times a day.
Children Dosage:
Not established.
PERSANTINE Warnings/Precautions:
Severe coronary artery disease (eg, unstable angina, recent MI). Hypotension. Potential hepatic insufficiency. Interrupt dose for 48hrs prior to stress testing (w. IV dipyridamole, other adenosinergic agents). Pregnancy. Nursing mothers.
PERSANTINE Classification:
Antiplatelet.
PERSANTINE Interactions:
May potentiate cardiovascular effects of IV adenosinergic agents (eg, adenosine, regadenoson). May antagonize cholinesterase inhibitors.
Adverse Reactions:
Dizziness, abdominal distress, headache, rash.
