Hepatic encephalopathy:
Indications for: Paromomycin Sulfate
Adjunct therapy to management of hepatic coma.
Adult Dosage:
Usually 4g daily in divided doses for 5–6 days.
Children Dosage:
Not recommended.
Paromomycin Sulfate Contraindications:
Intestinal obstruction.
Paromomycin Sulfate Warnings/Precautions:
Evaluate if new infections develop during therapy. Ulcerative bowel lesions. Asthma. Aspirin hypersensitivity.
Paromomycin Sulfate Classification:
Antibiotic.
Adverse Reactions:
Nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea; overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms.
