Asthma/COPD:
Indications for: Metaproterenol Sulfate Tablets
Asthma. Bronchospasm.
Adult Dosage:
20mg 3–4 times daily.
Children Dosage:
<6yrs: not recommended. 6–9yrs (<60 lbs): 10mg 3–4 times daily. >9yrs (>60 lbs): 20mg 3–4 times daily.
Metaproterenol Sulfate Tablets Contraindications:
Arrhythmias associated with tachycardia.
Metaproterenol Sulfate Tablets Warnings/Precautions:
Avoid excessive use. Hypertension. Cardiovascular disease. CHF. Hyperthyroidism. Diabetes. Seizure disorders. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers.
Metaproterenol Sulfate Tablets Classification:
Beta-2 agonist.
Metaproterenol Sulfate Tablets Interactions:
Avoid other aerosol β-agonists. Potentiated by sympathomimetics, tricyclics, MAOIs.
Adverse Reactions:
Tachycardia, nervousness, tremor, headache, dizziness, GI upset, hypertension, paradoxical bronchospasm, cough, bad taste.
