Colorectal disorders:
Indications for: IBSRELA
Irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C).
Adult Dosage:
Take immediately prior to breakfast (or the first meal of the day) and prior to dinner. 50mg twice daily.
Children Dosage:
<18yrs: not established.
IBSRELA Contraindications:
Patients <6yrs of age. Known or suspected mechanical GI obstruction.
IBSRELA Warnings/Precautions:
Avoid use in patients 6–<12yrs of age. Suspend dosing and rehydrate if severe diarrhea occurs. Pregnancy. Nursing mothers.
IBSRELA Classification:
Sodium/hydrogen exchanger 3 (NHE3) inhibitor.
IBSRELA Interactions:
Antagonizes OATP2B1 substrates (eg, enalapril); monitor and increase dosage of substrates as needed.
Adverse Reactions:
Diarrhea, abdominal distension, flatulence, dizziness.
