Diabetes Drug May Help Inhibit Atherosclerosis

A new study shows that the diabetes drug exenatide could have a powerful anti-inflammatory effect that occurs independent of weight loss. John Schieszer reports in today's Medical Minute that this agent may lead to the inhibition of atherosclerosis, the major cause of heart attacks, strokes, and gangrene in type 1 diabetics.
