Blacks More Likely to Harbor Aggressive Prostate Cancer

A new study of men aged 52-62 suggests that African Americans diagnosed with very low-risk prostate cancers are much more likely than white men to actually have aggressive disease.

The researchers conducted a study that included 1,473 white men and 256 back men.

John Schieszer reports in today's Medical Minute that this study may offer the most conclusive evidence to date that broad application of active surveillance recommendations may not be suitable for African-Americans.
