Nutrients Fail to Prevent Prostate Cancer
Selenium and vitamin E supplements, taken alone or together, do not prevent prostate cancer, according to an early analysis of data from the Selenium and Vitamin C Cancer Prevention Trial.
More than 35,000 men aged 50 years and older are involved in the NIH-funded study. The findings were announced by NIH but have not yet been published in a peer-reviewed journal.
Previous studies had suggested that taking these nutrients could lower the risk of prostate cancer.
