Do you see yourself as dialysis patients' primary care physician?
The dialysis population has a high burden of comorbidities. It is not ucommon for nephrologists to have under their care patients who have concomitant cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other maladies.
Although these patients may have family physicians and see other subspecialists, nephrologists clearly play a pivotal, and perhaps dominant, role in the care of these patients. They frequently must educate and advise dialysis patients on range of medical issues not specifically related to their end-stage renal disease.
Renal & Urology News would like to know how nephrologists view their role in the care of dialysis patients, so please answer the following poll question.
