With easy access to medical information online, patients making their first visit to a particular specialist may have already read up on their signs and symptoms and what their diagnosis and treatment might be.

Prior to the visit, patients also may look up the specialist online to learn about his or her education and training and other qualifications. Still, patients might want to ask the specialist questions to evaluate whether he or she is the best doctor for their medical problem.
