One key strategy, according to practice management consultants, is to establish and maintain good working relationships with primary care practitioners (PCPs), perhaps by making it easy for the PCPs' patients to get an appointment.
Another tactic is for specialists to attract patients away from other specialists, such as by offering more convenient hours or lower fees.
