The owner of the weekly news magazine Newsweek just announced that it was discontinuing the print version of the publication and moving to an entirely digital format.

This is in response, it said, to the growing trend of people getting their news and other information through their computers and mobile devices such as iPads and smart phones.

In addition, shrinking revenue from print advertising has made it difficult to support a print publication. For similar reasons, the Times-Picayune newspaper of New Orleans has decided to stop daily publication of its print edition and issue the print publication only three times a week. It plans to devote its attention to its digital edition.
