Social media is increasingly becoming an important tool for physicians in being able to keep up with emerging trends in healthcare and network with peers.

Urologists in particular seem to dominate in this arena. At the recent AUA meeting, for instance, attendees tweeted important clinical updates by the thousands using the official #AUA14 hashtag. Dr. Stacy Loeb, a New York-based urologist and prolific tweeter, has long been an advocate for social media practices (“SoMe”) in her field.

On the nephrology side, members of eAJKD, the official blog of the American Journal of Kidney Disease, recently promoted their #NephMadness competition through social media as a fun way to spur discussion on unique challenges in kidney disease.

Renal & Urology News would like to ask its physician audience about the importance of social media in their professional lives. All responses are anonymous.
