Overactive Bladder Findings in Diabetic Women

Increased bladder sensation and detrusor overactivity are the most frequent urodynamic findings of overactive bladder (OAB) in women with diabetes, researchers in Taiwan reported in Neurourology and Urodynamics (2009; published online ahead of print).

They studied 94 diabetic women, of whom 34 had OAB. On cystometry, 41.2% of the OAB group had increased bladder sensation compared with 11.7% of those without OAB.

In addition, 29.4% of the OAB group had detrusor overactivity vs. 10% of the non-OAB group.
