MMF Found Superior to Azathioprine for Lupus Nephritis Maintenance



A new large, international study has found that the immunosuppressant drug mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) is superior to azathioprine as a maintenance therapy for patients with lupus nephritis.  John Schieszer reports in today's Medical Minute that lupus nephritis patients appear to respond to MMF for a longer period of time and suffer fewer negative side effects.
