Animas Corporation of West Chester, Pa., has received clearance for its OneTouch Ping Glucose Management System, with the first full-feature insulin pump that wirelessly communicates with a blood glucose meter-remote.

With the system's meter-remote, a patient can calculate insulin doses and has the option to wirelessly instruct the pump to deliver them without touching the pump, giving patients more freedom and flexibility in using the pump.

“People using OneTouch Ping will no longer have to access their pump to deliver a bolus, ultimately making life with diabetes a little easier,” said Juan Frias, MD, chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs at Animas.
